It’s more than a home show. More than a home & garden show. More than a home, garden & recreation show. It’s everything in one place, on the first Saturday in May to benefit the Boys & Girls Club. It’s an EXTRAVAGANZA featuring businesses and organizations from across the region, food, special raffles, entertainment, displays and a free Commemorative EXTRAVAGANZA Program offering special discounts from area businesses just for attendees!
Visit our EXTRAVAGANZA page to learn more about becoming a vendor or getting your business’ ad in our inaugural program. But, don’t delay … you only have a few more days!
We are getting soooooo close to finishing the renovations at our Club on Bayley Road. And, we are absolutely tickled to have folks wanting to lend their time and talents to get us there. Thank you, so much, to the following Alcoa employees (and family members) who recently lent us a bunch of helping hands to tackle painting and preps:
Ned Meader Jr.
Chris and Pam Tulga
Doug and Luke von Borstel
Jim and Priscilla Jenne
Mitch, Olivia, Esther and Owen Nemier
Ronda and Michael McGraw
Not only did the great folks at North Country Savings Bank make a significant contribution to the Club, they featured the Boys & Girls Club of Massena in one of their new commercials. We love it — and you. Thank you for supporting our kids!
Massena’s own Jim “Ace” Deshaies recently showed how easy it is to support the Boys & Girls Club of Massena by purchasing raffle tickets from club board member Tim Lashomb. The raffle tickets are just $5 each for a chance at cash prizes totaling $2,500. Others can join Jim in supporting the Club by purchasing raffle tickets today at Frenchie’s Chevrolet or from any Boys & Girls Club board member. For more information about the raffle and the Boys & Girls Club of Massena, please email info@BGCMassena.org or call Director Debra Donatto at 315-250-7806.
The Boys and Girls Club of Massena reached another milestone Tuesday afternoon.
With signs of construction taking place around them at the clubhouse at 30 Bayley Road, the former St. Joseph’s social hall, Boys and Girls club officials accepted the keys to the building after closing on its purchase.
Timmy J. Currier, president of the Boys and Girls Club of Massena Board of Directors, accepted the keys from the Rev. Mark Reilly, pastor for the Greater Massena Catholic Community, as a number of club members and officials looked on.

Just in time for the holidays, raffle tickets are now available to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Massena. At just $5, they make great stocking stuffers, Secret Santa gifts or that special addition to any gift.
Prizes to be awarded: $1000 First, $750 Second, $500 Third & $250 Fourth.
Frenchie Coupal sponsored the ticket printing, so all proceeds benefit the Club.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving.
#GivingTuesday is all about the power of caring and the generosity of people to bring about real change in their communities; it provides a platform for them to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address local challenges.
Please remember local charities that need your support on #GivingTuesday — like the Boys & Girls Club of Massena. Funds received stay right here to pay the costs of providing services to our 300+ Club kids. And, meaningful donations don’t have to be monetary — your time and talents are welcome too!
It’s not just my kids, your kids, or “those” kids that reap the rewards of the Boys & Girls Club of Massena. The Club provides a positive place and programs for all of the kids in our community.
It’s about having a place to go after school for help with homework, meeting up with friends who may go to a different school, learning how to give back through service to others. It’s reading and recreation. Computers and music. Activities that stretch imaginations and build skills in science, technology, engineering & math. It’s learning, it’s fun, it’s healthy and it’s safe.
A successful, local businessman has turned down the chance to support the Club with the belief that it only benefits “those kids” and “those kids” already receive support.
As our Club President & Village Mayor Tim Currier recently shared:
“The club meets the demands of kids in all socio-economic levels, as children from every income level, every neighborhood and every ethnicity are welcome and do participate in the program.
“It is absolutely true, though, one of the great advantages of the BGC, and a primary reason communities that have clubs tend to see better results across the board is because it helps to lift those living in poverty up and into the middle class or beyond, giving them a chance at breaking the circle and becoming very productive members of our society.”
Join us in helping all of the kids in our community. Make a donation or volunteer your time, today. All of our kids thank you!
During the month of August 2016, each reusable “Good Karma” shopping bag that was purchased at Massena’s Hannaford store (6300 State Highway 37) generated a $1 donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Massena. Thanks to Hannaford and all the shoppers who bought a bag for giving back to the community in this special way!
Congratulations to all of the North Country kids who participated in the Club’s 2016 Junior Olympics Track & Field Events on Saturday, August 13, at the Massena High School track.
Featured events included: 100 Meter Dash, 400 Meter Dash, 1 x 100 Meter Relay & 3000 Meter Distance Run, Long Jump, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, Backward Crab Walk and Thread the Needle.
Make sure your kids don’t miss any of the fun happening at the Boys & Girls Club of Massena! Please contact Director Debra Donatto with any questions you have and to let her know that you want to be a part of the Club by sending her an email at email@example.com or calling her at 250-7806.
