Community Comes Through … Again!

Between the auction bids and cash donations, the Radiothon on November 21st proved, once again, the depth of the support the community has for opening a Club in Massena.  The final tally is coming soon; but, initial results show we’ve taken a really big step toward opening our doors.

The Massena community rallied around plans to open a Boys & Girls Club through a day-long radiothon Thursday.

The Bids for Kids radiothon and auction took place at the Massena Elks Lodge. Bids were placed on a variety of donated packages, including fishing charters, round trip air tickets from Massena to Boston and other items.

Efforts have been ongoing to bring a Boys & Girls Club to Massena for the last couple of years.  Organizers say they plan to take over a building on Bayley Road where the club would be located.

“The idea is to have a safe, fun place to go for kids pretty much of any age, six on up, would be welcome to come to the club,” said Rhonda Rodriguez, a member of the board of directors.

Agreement Reached on Location for Massena’s Club!

The Boys & Girls Club of Massena has reached an agreement with St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Church to purchase the former St. Joseph’s Social Hall on Bayley Road to become the future home of Massena’s Club. Timmy J. Currier, president of the Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors, noted that “this is a preliminary step that outlines our intention to purchase the building and property, as we work with the church over the coming months to work out the final details.”
